The Lilbeckking Development Foundation (LIBEDEF) led by Mr Destiny Aigbokhae, Co-Director of LIBEDEF recently had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Kenneth, the Director of Climate Change at the Edo State Ministry of Environment and Sustainability. This fruitful discussion highlighted the shared commitment to driving sustainable development and climate action in the region.
During the meeting, the LIBEDEF team and Mr. Kenneth explored key areas of collaboration. They discussed the importance of accessing climate finance and leveraging partnerships with international bodies to scale renewable energy projects that can power the agricultural sector and protect local biodiversity. The conversation also delved into the pressing issues of erosion and waste control, particularly along the Ekehuna road, and the need for sustainable water and forest management solutions.
Importantly, Mr. Kenneth praised the steadfast work of LIBEDEF, commending the foundation’s dedication to sustainable development. He was especially encouraged to learn about LIBEDEF’s recent achievements, including the solarization of local health centers and the training of youth in solar power installation, repair, and biogas conversion.
Looking ahead, the meeting paved the way for even greater cooperation. Mr. Kenneth shared the government’s plans to distribute renewable energy stoves to vulnerable communities, an initiative that aligns perfectly with LIBEDEF’s mission. Additionally, he expressed enthusiasm about bringing LIBEDEF together with other organizations to celebrate the upcoming Youth for Climate Week – a testament to the vital role youth play in driving climate action.
