Lilbeckking Development Foundation Launches “Clean Energy Assembly for National Advocacy” in Bayelsa State

The Lilbeckking Development Foundation (LIBEDEF) officially commenced its nationwide “Clean Energy Assembly for National Advocacy” with the inaugural programme held today in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The Clean Energy Assembly is a strategic advocacy initiative designed to promote environmental sustainability and accelerate Nigeria’s transition from fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy sources. The campaign seeks to engage citizens, policymakers, students, community leaders, and other stakeholders in meaningful conversations about the future of clean energy in Nigeria.
A major objective of the assembly is to build public support for a proposed bill to be presented to the National Assembly, advocating for the subsidisation of solar energy technologies. The proposed legislation aims to make solar energy systems more affordable and accessible to households, businesses, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and rural communities across the country.
As Nigeria continues to experience the environmental and economic effects of climate change, rising energy costs, and overdependence on fossil fuels, LIBEDEF believes that expanding access to renewable energy is essential for sustainable national development. Affordable solar energy has the potential to improve energy security, create green jobs, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance the quality of life for millions of Nigerians.
Speaking during the assembly, representatives of the Foundation emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing climate challenges and called on government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, the private sector, and the general public to support policies that encourage investment in clean energy.
The Foundation also highlighted the need for increased public awareness and environmental education, stressing that every Nigerian has a role to play in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.
The Bayelsa State assembly marks the beginning of a nationwide advocacy campaign that will be extended to other states across Nigeria, with the goal of mobilizing widespread support for renewable energy policies and fostering a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
Lilbeckking Development Foundation (LIBEDEF) remains committed to advancing climate action, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and community development through advocacy, education, and strategic partnerships.
Together, we can power Nigeria’s future with clean energy.
