Benin City, Nigeria – In a groundbreaking event held on December 6th, the University of Benin witnessed a powerful convergence of ideas, expertise, and youthful enthusiasm as LILBECKKING DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION “LIBEDEF” led a captivating presentation on the transformative potential of renewable energy and sustainable agriculture – solutions that hold the key to protecting our climate and securing a brighter future.

Joined by distinguished guests Program Manager Administration, Hannah Ahimokahi and Media and Communications Manager, Elvira Jordan from the Environmental Defenders Network, in a program facilitated bythe President of the National Association of Agric Students in UNIBEN, Justice Onaiwu, the dynamic team provided students with a comprehensive understanding of how clean, solar-powered solutions can revolutionize the food and energy systems of the future, safeguarding our planet in the process.
Throughout the presentation, the speakers emphasized the multifaceted benefits of integrating renewable energy, particularly solar power, into modern agricultural practices. Co-Director of LIBEDEF, Destiny Aigbokhae stated that the goal of the program was to educate the students on Renewable Energy and the possibilities it brings to agriculture.
“Our goal is to empower young minds with the knowledge and vision to become the agents of positive climate action that our communities and our planet so desperately need. As we solarize the health care sector in Nigeria, we should also not forget that sustainable agricultural development and energy are essential to help save our climate and future.”
On his part, the Director of LIBEDEF, Beckley Irumudomonstated the organization’s commitment towards engaging in dialogues on clean energy, forging new partnerships, and empowering the next generation of leaders to build a brighter, more sustainable, climate-resilient tomorrow.
