On 22nd of February 2024 a non-governmental organization named LILBECKKING DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (LIBEDEF) took to school to train students on climate change issues.
And the theme of the program is: YOUTH ACTION ON CLEAN ENERGY and the topic of the day was “Our Climate, Our Future” The youth training workshop “Our Climate, Our Future” brought together over 30 students from (4) four schools, namely: LEADERS COLLEGE SCHOOL JOYCE SCHOLARS EDUCATIONAL CENTER STONE-BRIDGE ACADEMY HALLMARK INT.
HIGH SCHOOL To educate them on clean energy solutions, through this interactive discussion, presentations and hands on activities, participants gained valuable knowledge on climate change and it impacted, renewable options and how individuals action can help. Students were highly engaged throughout the day long event, networking across schools and sharing ideas on youth led projects to promote sustainability in our communities.
Based on post event surveys, the training effectively inspired the next generation to raise awareness and work towards a greener future. Enlightening the students, Miss Elvira Jordan said having a zero waste society is what we need to start practicing now While Mr. Dennis, said it’s time for the general public to key into the use of solar power systems other than our usual burning of fuel for electrification.
The leadership of the organisation said the reason for convening this event is to empower young minds to become leaders in climate action, clean environment policy and sustainable energy policies. Which they further said that this is just the beginning as they are to train more young minds and over 15 schools on issues affecting our communities due to climate change and waste management products.
